These two pictures are of the same table, designed for the Idaho State Capitol Building. In the top picture the table top has been removed for a look at the weaving details.
This table exemplifies what Wovenhardwoods does. We came up with the design concept and then the design. Weaving the sides out of vertical pieces which were same size and grain as the leg of the table but thinner. Woven with horizontals pieces Like like the top and bottom pieces with like size and grain. These sides were then hand polished and assembled ready for final coats of eurethane. The Elm was out of a reclaimed tree from the Capitol grounds planted in 1887. The shaped stone is Salmon River Jade , of Pollack Idaho. The table is designed to be usable by a person in a wheel chair or someone walking up. (See additional pictures in gallery) (this table is in the Idaho State Governors Office)
We meet with the people who have a need in person or by email. We try to get the overall design constraints of the piece or pieces. We then come up with a recommendation for materials, stucture and size. We come up with a unique design. We review the piece and make an estimate of time for construction and from this a cost. If you are happy with the design We then produce the piece .
.
These two pictures are of two railings the first railing has three panels. It has four posts of cherry. Each panel is woven in a different pattern. This one being a diamond weave.. The second railing is a fixed design and is built entirely of rattan and wicker.
